Every photograph on this site was shared by its author under an open licence or is in the public domain. Here is who made each one, the licence it is used under and where to find the original.

Photographs

All 26 photographs used on Venice Water Inform come from Wikimedia Commons, the shared media library of the Wikimedia projects. Each entry below names the author as given on Commons, links to the licence and links to the original file, where you will find the full-resolution image and its complete licence information.

For use on this site every photograph was resized, to 1600 and 800 pixels wide, and recompressed for faster loading. No other changes were made: nothing was cropped, retouched or combined. The small thumbnails on this page are the 800-pixel versions.

Typefaces

The site uses two typefaces published under the SIL Open Font License, version 1.1. Both are stored on this website’s own server, so displaying them involves no request to any font service.

Maps and drawings

The schematic chart of the lagoon, the compass rose and the wordmark were drawn for this site by the editorial team. They are covered by our terms of use, not by an open licence. The chart is simplified and not to scale.

Reusing the images

We are not the authors of these photographs and cannot grant permission to use them. If you would like to reuse one, open the original file on Wikimedia Commons and follow its licence. In short:

  • CC BY allows reuse, including adaptation, as long as you credit the author, name the licence and indicate any changes you made.
  • CC BY-SA asks for the same, and in addition requires that adapted versions are shared under the same licence.
  • CC0 and public domain works can be used without conditions, although crediting the author or source remains good practice.

This summary is not a substitute for the licence texts, which are linked from each entry above.

Corrections

If you are one of the photographers and would like your credit worded differently, or if you notice an error in this list, write to info@venizeanwaterinform.online. We will correct the credit, or remove the image if you prefer.
